If this message could be relayed to Mary and Christina Brown I would appreciate that. I am truly moved by your situation and have deep feelings of empathy for you. I have seen the movie several times and am now saddened to know that dusty is out of jail. That is the sad reality of the injustice that you have to experience because truly you have been given a life sentence of no possibility of parole or because of good behavior released early and that is the death of your son and father. Your strength and courage is truly inspirational.May you experience some deep down peace and joy in your lives and to know you have each other that is justice but most importantly LOVE.

This movie was on today from 3pm until 7pm. It is 7:38 and I have just finished watching the movie with my daughter Ivybrook. I use these movies as a way of teaching my daughter what to watch out for in life and in people. She is 12. She loves movies based on true stories. She is also very perceptive of people just like her mommy. This movie is so sad. I cried and cried on different parts especially when they play the music.

To the commenter above, the first and only time that I spoke with Mary Brown was in 1997 or 1999, I cannot remember exactly, but she was planning on writing the book at that time. The movie came out in 1993, so she was planning on writing the book after the movie as kind of an epilogue.

I just want to say that I have a cousin in the marines. When I saw this movie it really touched me and made me think about him and what if somthing like this could happen to him. I really appreciate you keeping up with all that is going on with the people involved. I would like to say that Chris's mother is the most couragous person I have ever heard of.

... the movie was an ACCURATE depiction , except Ada,Ok wasn't so bad ... just her family and misguided-friends ... after our divorce in 1977, it took me about a year to finally win absolute custody of our daughter ... she moved on (Ada & Carolina) ... her & new-husband Chris stopped in Tulsa and requested a short-visitation-trip for my daughter to visit family in Ada for Easter weekend ... Aunt Sharon and Grandmother Katherine are good-people, so I consented ... (side-note: that dishwater-haired Diane is as sorry-and-meanspirited as a human can be) ... long story short, no return of my little girl ... about a month and a half of calling and searching (Military not much help) found me (bank-loaned to-the-hilt) IN Hawaii with the County Sheriff knocking on their apartment door (off-base) ... they surrendered my daughter on the spot ... handed me her clothing in a grocery bag, and we were gone ... flew quickly home that afternoon ... never looked back ... one other side-note: I always considered Chris guiltless in this ... he had seemed like a nice guy to me, and I know that Charlene had mislead him about my daughter and my custody ... for many-years , as a single-father , I kept my "radar" always on ... always looking over our shoulder ... I remarried when Jeannie was 6 ... we stayed alert always ...'nuff said ,,, Forest

Hello Forrest, I was thinking of contacting you actually to get you post a story about Kathy. How did you know about the site? You must have spoken with Edwina. Edwina loves Dusty so much. I can understand that. If it were my brother or sister or son I would still love them too. Would detest the behavior though as she does. Will you email me privately Forrest? I would like to get a young pic of Dusty at about the age she was when all of this happened. What do you think about the photo of Dusty now? Did she look similar to either of these pics? Dusty is on the run again. Wonder where she is?

Hi Traciy ~ I woke up this morning to find A Matter Of Justice on LMN @ 8:00 a.m. I have been wanting to see this movie again for years. The first time I watched it I was mortified. I'll keep my thoughts of Ms. Brown to myself. Patty Duke & Martin Sheen were wonderful in the film. I am a true-crime fanatic and I was going to look up this case to find a book. I found your site first. Great job!! I'm currently studying Website Design & Interactive Media so if I can be of any help I would love to be involved. My cousin was murdered in 2002 by her psycho husband. Someday I would like to write a book about that hellish experience. Now that I have the correct names for those involved in Chris Brown's death I will do more research. Again great job!!!

I have watched this movis a couple of times, and finally decided to look up much more information. What a shame, the fact that Dusty was able to use Rocky to murder Chris, but people this happens everyday in America. Nothing personal, but Rocky and Dusty should have never been let out of prison.
I do not beleive Chris abused Dusty, I beleive Dusty played mind games on Chris, in return making him act accordingly. Rocky, your a fool for getting involved with a married women, period, and then to go to his house, like I said, you should have never been let of of prison. Then to see pictures of Chris's daughter Chrissy, what a shame. All the trouble the grandparents went through to get her, and she waste it with some loser meth head.

They alwyas say, Truth is better than fiction.

God will have his day with each of them.

I am an army wife and I wanted to have my husband watch this movie cause I loved it. What I didnt realize is that the movie was based in Gadsden Alabama (its been years since I watched the movie)I lived close by there until I married my husband back in 2006 and I will be going back soon. I feel so bad for the family with all the trouble they went through to keep Christy safe and then she goes and does stupid stuff. If you talk to the family tell them my prayers are with them, Crystal

Why didn't Mary's obituary lisy that she was proceeded in death by her husband Jack? Were they divorced?

Traciy Curry-Reyes said...

I don't know. I noticed that too. I do not believe they were divorced.

I am surprised no one left a comment about Mary's passing. How sad it was for me to read that this morning. She was an incredible person and I am sure she is resting with the angels. God bless her and her family.

Hi everyone... I live in the same community in Gallant as Mary did. I am just a few years younger than Chrissy and I do remember her well, although I was not good friends with her. I remember Mary well too. I grew up watching the movie and I do remember stories of the Browns as I was growing up. I have family that were very close to the Browns. In an earlier post someone asked if MAry and Jack were divorced since the obituary didn't list Jack and the answer is that yes, in fact, they were divorced. I do not know specific dates of divorce, but I'm sure I can find out if anyone would like to know. I am very glad to have found this site as this story, being a local one and of someone who was close to my family I have always been fascinated by the Browns.

There is a picture of his grave at findagrave.com
It's obviously placed by a family member on his fathers side. I'm sure they could give you more information. If you google this case, two news articles are archived. One from alabama and one from Hawaii.
